Illustrating Google's Stories of India

This internal book was illustrated during one of the most fragile moments of recent history, COVID-19 in 2021. The challenge wasn’t just to communicate advisories, but to do so with empathy, clarity, and calmness. My illustrations focused on people first: communities, frontline workers, families, and everyday moments of resilience. The visual language was intentionally warm, approachable, and reassuring that was designed to make critical information feel human, not intimidating.

Illustrating Care in a Crisis

Beyond advisories, the book documented the many ways Google supported different communities during the pandemic, through technology, access, and on-ground initiatives. Each illustration balanced sensitivity with optimism, translating large-scale efforts into relatable stories. Color, composition, and character were carefully tuned to reflect hope, solidarity, and collective strength during an otherwise uncertain time.

From Pages to the Highest Office

The project culminated as a printed book that went far beyond an internal artifact. In 2022, it was presented by Sundar Pichai to Droupadi Murmu, a moment that underscored the power of illustration as a medium for storytelling, diplomacy, and shared humanity. For me, it was a defining example of how thoughtful visuals can carry meaning, responsibility, and real-world impact.
